Any mention of the Costa del Sol, or any of the
Spanish Costas for that matter, immediately conjures up images of packed beaches and bars, large developments of villas and
apartments and more to do with sun, sand and sangria than scenery and serenity. But it is these last attributes that a little
piece of land has in abundance, tucked away a few miles inland from the busy coast.
The winding valley of the
Rio Padron snakes its way into the hills of the Sierra Bermeja and nestled within those hills, after negotiating the twists
and turns of the road, you will eventually arrive at a clearing by a mountain stream and a low stone bridge inviting you to
cross and enter the sanctuary that is the Sweet Lemon Grove.
Set in nine hectares of orchard, the grove still
produces citrus fruits including the unique sweet lemon, along with avacado, almond, peach, fig and pepper. There is very
little - if nothing at all – to disturb the peace and quiet that provides a haven for recharging mind and body under
the Mediterranean sun. And long after that sun has set, one can continue to sit back with wine glass in hand under a nightblack
firmanent of bright pin-point stars listening to - well - silence... and when was the last time you actually heard that?
The land is managed as an organic farming project but also offers accommodation in a renovated cabaña with
basic but comfortable facilities, making an excellent base from which to explore the hinterland - when one decides to tackle
something a little more strenuous than lying in the sun!

Our
Accommodation:
The cottage on the land is utilitarian but attractive and comfortable, including
